Sand Painting: By creating an altar or sacred art work about an issue, you can work on it in an energetic realm, more powerful than the day-to-day process of "figuring it out."
1. Make a sand painting, a mandala, a sacred altar, of to work on an issue that you would like to shift. You can define the boundaries of the sand painting by using a plate or making a circle out of sticks, yarn, etc. Use things from nature and/or objects that have meaning for you, make them into a sacred picture of who you are on the highest level. Have fun with it. When you create the sand painting and work with it, create sacred space for yourself first, by, for example, lighting a candle, burning incense, ringing a bell, saying a prayer. When ending your sacred work for the day, close space with gratitude. This practice brings the work we did into the level of the sacred so that you are continuing to make a shift on that energetic level. Do this within the next 48 hours.
2. Write a list of the gifts and the gains of the issue you are working on. Blow each gift and gain into a spirit arrow (you can use a small stick for this; a toothpick works well). Put these in your sand painting.
3. Tend the altar/sand painting for 3-4 days, move things around, add or subtract symbols, let it shift and change for you.
4. After a 3-4 days, burn the sticks with gratitude and disperse the sand painting.
